Matt Moore Still Panthers Starting Quarterback, John Fox Says

Carolina Panthers coach John Fox said Monday that Matt Moore will continue to be the team's starting quarterback, despite a three-interception game in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the St. Louis Rams,

The Panthers are 1-6 and continue along with the NFL's worst offense. Fox said he will have an update Wednesday on running back DeAngelo Williams, who missed the game with a sprained foot.

Moore, who was coming off a career-best game in yardage against the 49ers, completed 23 of 37 passes for 194 yards with the three interceptions.

Fox defended Moore on the interceptions, he did not say which ones, when he said, "We had some other areas that broke down on some of the other interceptions." Fox did not elaborate or say it was poor route-running or protection.

Running back Jonathan Stewart gained just 30 yards as the feature back for the first time this season.

Fox also said his contract status is not weighing on him as he tries to pull the team out of the skid. "I don't think it matters if you have four years or one year," Fox said.
