Cody Grimm, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety, was fined $7,500 by the NFL on Friday for unnecessary roughness on a play in Sunday's 31-16 win over Carolina. Officials said he launched at Panthers tight end Dante Rosario and struck him in the head.Grimm received a 15-yard penalty. He disagreed with the call on the field insisting it was inadvertent contact.
"I think he was trying to duck out of my hit," Grimm told the St. Petersburg Times. "And my shoulder caught his head. Literally, it was like a backside dig (route). They said I launched. (Rosario) started to get down and just dipped right into my shoulder-head combo, I guess.
