FORT WORTH, Texas - Section F, Row 40, Seats 19 and 20.
That's where Jack White has watched every Texas Christian University home football game without a fumble since 1950. That's 60 years, and no longer counting since Saturday's Mountain West Conference showdown between the third-ranked Horned Frogs and San Diego State marked the final game here at Amon G. Carter Stadium before a major modernizing renovation. Sluggish TCU overcame an early deficit and hoped it proved that it remained a team worthy of playing for the BCS title in a 40-35 victory that was its closest game of the year.
Wife Susan has also enjoyed the Purple and White journey with White for 41 years since he proposed, politely mentioning that he attended Horned Frogs athletic events and she was welcome to attend, too. Jack is 83 years young, walks with the help of a cane, believes in chivalry, was dressed in purple from head to toe, knows his college football and had a stern senior citizen's message for the BCS.
It's a fallacy.
"The BCS is based on a false premise of conferences; it should be based on the premise of teams because every conference has strong and weak teams," White, a retired art director who attended TCU and has lived here his entire life, told FanHouse. "It's a fallacy. Most people don't know anything about us."
