Gary Kubiak Assures That Beaten Texans 'Aren't Giving Up'

Frank Bush is safe as the Houston Texans' defensive coordinator.

Bush, who has come under increasing criticism in recent weeks because of the Texans' 32nd-ranked pass defense, received the support of Texans coach Gary Kubiak on Monday.

"I believe in him," Kubiak said via the team's Twitter account. "I think we played much better defense yesterday. We'll figure out a way to get it done."

The Texans, who have ranked 32nd in the NFL in pass defense much of the season, lost their fourth consecutive game Sunday, losing a late lead to the New York Jets in a 30-27 loss.

Kubiak said the Texans rushed the passer better against the Jets than in recent weeks, and also addressed the disappointment of fans over a team that entered the season with playoff aspirations.

The Texans won their final four games of last season to finish with a winning record for the first time in franchise history, then started the season 2-0, a record that included a victory over the defending AFC champion Indianapolis Colts in the season opener.
