Patrick Mills Leads Australia Over Germany in Rout at FIBA Worlds

Filed under: FIBA, FIBA World ChampionshipIn a very tight Group A race at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey, Australia won their biggest game of the tournament on Monday in Kayseri. They almost guaranteed avoidance of the dreaded fourth spot in the group with a convincing 78-43 victory over Germany.

Australia was led by former St. Mary's (Calif.) standout point guard Patrick Mills. Mills, who played for the Portland Trail Blazers last season, led all players with 16 points and seven assists. He was by far the most dominating player on the court Monday.

The Germans, who played well over the weekend, found no rhythm against Australia, shooting just 25.9 percent for the game. The Australian team did a solid job of clogging passing lanes on defense. German star Demond Greene was 0-of-5 from the field and was held scoreless. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
