Redshirt sophomore Darron Thomas was named the starter by coach Chip Kelly for Oregon's Sept. 4 opener against New Mexico at Autzen Stadium. The Ducks are ranked No. 9 in the nation in FanHouse's Top 25 rankings and are the preseason favorite to win the Pac-10.
