"Asinine," said closer Heath Bell, when asked for his reaction to the plans by the San Diego Union-Tribune. "Let's see, they held a concert during Comic-Con (in late July) and killed the grass in left. OK, so let's go to a soccer match.
"We're in a pennant race. Much of the nation will probably be seeing us for the first time. Shouldn't we be trying to put our best foot forward.
"They're not worried about the field looking good. They're just trying to make a profit. Very interesting. Honestly, I'm all for doing it if it doesn't damage the field. Pittsburgh had a concert after one of our games there and the field was great the next day.
"They had a concert at Petco Park and had to re-sod left field. I'm just glad that we do have a great ground crew. We have one of the most beautiful infields and outfields in baseball. Why now?" Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
