Byron Hout Reveals Words That Sparked LeGarrette Blount Punch

Filed under: Boise State, OregonMany people have wondered what Boise State defensive end Byron Hout shouted at Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount that triggered Blount's vicious punch that knocked Hout to his knees following last year's season opener between the two teams.

Blount, a free-agent running back with the Tennessee Titans, has repeatedly apologized for the incident but has never revealed what was said -- not even to good friend Mark Southerland in his hometown of Perry, Fla.

However, Hout, a junior linebacker for the Broncos, detailed his version for the first time when he met with the media over the weekend. Hout's interview was his first in 11 months dating back to the punch that was replayed over and over on the television and Internet.

Hout, excited by the Broncos' 19-8 defeat of Oregon, told the Idaho Statesman that he slapped Blount on the shoulder. Blount had told Sports Illustrated that the Ducks owed the Broncos an "ass-whuppin'."

"How 'bout that (blank) whuppin'?" Hout said he told Blount. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Commentssoccer shop beer of the month club snowshoe mountain
