Dolphins Cut Injured TE Joey Haynos

Filed under: Dolphins, NFL Injuries, NFL Training CampDAVIE, Fla. -- From the moment he went to the turf on the first series of the fourth quarter Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons, things didn't look good for Miami Dolphins tight end Joey Haynos. He was helped up and carried off the field onto a waiting cart, unable to put any weight at all on his right leg. He was later diagnosed with a foot injury.

Monday, the 6-foot-8, 270-pound Haynos was waived/injured by the Dolphins. That leaves just three healthy tight ends on Miami's roster -- veterans Anthony Fasano and David Martin and second-year player John Nalbone.

Haynos caught 21 passes for 184 yards and thee touchdowns in just less than two seasons with the Dolphins and started eight games last year, catching 19 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. He was also developing into a solid blocking tight end in both the running and passing game, but Dolphins coach Tony Sparano is not automatically going to keep three tight ends on the roster Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
