Indianapolis and Former Colts Lineman Quinn Pitcock Both in Better Place

Filed under: Colts, AFC SouthQuinn Pitcock's is a strange story by NFL standards, and a bit sad, too.

But on Thursday, for the first time in two years, came news that perhaps the story could have a chance at a happy ending.

Pitcock, originally a third-round selection by the Colts in the 2007 NFL Draft, became one of the team's mysteries the following season when he retired shortly before training camp.

It wasn't as if he was a marginal player, either. This was a guy who was part of a three-rookie defensive tackle group - Ed Johnson and Keyunta Dawson were the others - that by the end of 2007 season was playing so well to have coaches and personnel types around the team feeling very, very good about the spot.

Pitcock wasn't a starter, but he was a key reserve and had the look of a solid, multi-year contributor at the spot.

Then, at 24, he retired.
