Byron Leftwich Still Looks Like Favorite in Steelers' Early-Season QB Race

Filed under: Steelers, NFL Training Camp, NFL AnalysisLATROBE, Pa. -- Byron Leftwich didn't get any snaps at quarterback during practice at Steelers training camp here Monday, but don't read anything into that at all. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said that with four quarterbacks needing to get reps, he'll rest a different veteran QB every day. Monday was Leftiwch's day to get a break. He was back on the field Tuesday, working with the first team, which is probably where you'll see him in Week 1 when the Steelers open the regular season against the Falcons.

Tomlin isn't committing to a Week 1 starter yet. With Ben Roethlisberger suspended for at least the first four and possibly the first six games of the season, it'll either be Leftwich, Dennis Dixon or ultra-longshot Charlie Batch. But the sense around this camp is that Leftwich is the front-runner, which is fine with him. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Commentsstateline tack ipl live score hobby cnc
