o. It remains to be seen whether the players the Red Sox are now getting back from the disabled list will be enough to counteract those they keep losing to the DL, but at least there is some positive injury news in Boston.
The latest: Jacoby Ellsbury will be activated before Wednesday's game, coming off the DL a day after Mike Lowell. Ellsbury finished up his rehab work in Pawtucket on Tuesday night and admitted he isn't completely pain-free nearly four months -- and one aborted comeback attempt -- after suffering five hairline fractures in his ribcage.
"I think anybody who has a rib injury will know what I'm talking about,'' Ellsbury said. "They say for a while you'll move wrong and get a sharp pain. It's something I'll have to play through."
Daniel Nava is expected to be optioned back to Triple-A to clear a spot for Ellsbury.
o. The Denver Post reports the Rockies are planning to move Aaron Cook to the bullpen later this week, opening up a rotation spot for Jhoulys Chacin.
o. Roberto Alomar was served with a domestic violence injunction that orders him to stay at least 500 feet away from his wife, according to court records. The likely future Hall of Famer allegedly pushed his wife during an argument Monday. No arrests were made.
o. Two more Dominican Summer League players were suspended 50 games each after positive drug tests. Pitchers Mariano Chevalier of the White Sox and Richard Rodriguez of the Astros both tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Commentsboat lifts
