Carlisle was reportedly alert when he was taken off the court on a stretcher.

The Mavericks were engaged in practice when Carlisle collapsed. The team had been scheduled to leave for southern California Friday afternoon in advance of Saturday's outdoor preseason game against the Suns at Indian Wells.

The Morning News quotes Mavericks personnel as saying Carlisle felt light-headed before fainting on the court. He will not accompany the team to Indian Wells.

Carlisle is beginning his third season at the helm of Mavericks. He spent parts of five seasons in the 1980s as a roleplayer for the Celtics, Knicks and Nets. Should Carlisle miss time, his staff includes two former NBA head coaches in Dwane Casey and Terry Stotts. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
