Chris Rainey Concussion Could Have Affected Behavior, Some Say

Filed under: FloridaChris Rainey might have been affected by a concussion leading up his arrest on felony stalking charges, according to records in the Florida state attorney's case file.

On Sept. 14, Rainey was arrested after an argument with girlfriend Kelly Anderson. Rainey allegedly made death threats towards Anderson that night.

The records state that Anderson, the victim of Rainey's Sept. 14 , told police that Rainey had been "acting strangely" after receiving a concussion against USF on Sept. 11. After that game, coach Urban Meyer told reporters that Rainey, "got dinged up pretty good."

When the alleged incident between Rainey and Anderson occurred, Anderson downplayed it. "I did not want to have him arrested last night," she said in court the following day. "When the police came, I signed papers to not press any charges. I don't fear for my safety. I think he should be released on his own recognizance." Rainey accepted a plea agreement in September.

Experts differ on whether the concussion could have played a role in Rainey's behavior. Concussions, a controversial topic in sports of late, have been linked to depression and other behavioral issues. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
