Giants Shuffle Lineup for NLCS Game 3

Filed under: Giants, Phillies, MLB Playoffs, National League Championship SeriesSAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants shuffled their lineup for Game 3 of the NLCS, benching slumping leadoff man Andres Torres against the left-handed Cole Hamels, putting Edgar Renteria at shortstop and leadoff and moving Aubrey Huff down and Cody Ross up. Juan Uribe, who was questionable because of a sore left wrist, was cleared to play and was starting at third.

Manager Bruce Bochy said the changes were motivated by Hamels, the first lefty they have seen this postseason, and they'd go back to a normal lineup -- including Torres -- against the righties in the rest of the series.

Torres was the big question, because he had been 3-for-25 in the postseason with 12 strikeouts. He struck out all four times in Game 2. Aaron Rowand got the start in center in place of Torres. Rowand was hitting eighth. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
