Kyle Busch Runs Away With Dover Nationwide Race

Filed under: Kyle Busch, Nationwide Series, NASCARKyle Busch hid from the rest of the field in the Nationwide race at Dover International Speedway Saturday, winning his record-setting 11th victory of the year after a mini-slump of a few races.

Busch was in front almost from start to finish, leading 191 of 200 laps before taking the checkered flag over Joey Logano. Carl Edwards was third, followed by Reed Sorenson and Kevin Harvick.

Although Busch has dominated the series, he hasn't run every race and thus is not in contention for a series championship. Series points leader Brad Keselowski finished 17th, but still has a healthy 320-point lead over Edwards.

Outwardly, there was little drama at the end, but inside the car, Busch was sweating out the final few laps.

With less than 10 laps to go, he came on his radio and said, "I'm not gonna make it. I've had a vibration since 15 laps to go and it's getting worse and worse. We ain't gonna make it."

Logano and Edwards closed on Busch at the end, but could not mount a serious challenge. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
