Mike Ornstein, Marketing Agent, Pleads Guilty to Federal Fraud Charges

Filed under: Saints, NFL Police Blotter, Sports Business and MediaMike Ornstein, the marketing agent who got caught up in the Reggie Bush scandal at USC, has pleaded guilty to federal charges in a case involving allegations that he conspired with other parties to sell Super Bowl tickets he obtained at face value and to sell fake NFL game-worn jerseys.

Ornstein faced counts including mail fraud, wire fraud, interstate transportation of stolen property, and money laundering. He reportedly reached a plea deal in June and is awaiting sentencing. ProFootballTalk is reporting that he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

The conspiracy allegedly ran from 1998 to 2006, when he sold Super Bowl tickets above face value. ProFootballTalk speculates that Ornstein could have received those tickets from league employees, potentially bringing them into question. Ornstein also allegedly faxed fake certificates of authenticity for fake, "game-worn" NFL jerseys. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
