Patrick Baumann, the secretary-general of FIBA, said before the bronze medal game of the world championship tournament, that the organization will test lowering the rims from the standard 10 feet in women's competitions, though he did not specify what a new height would be.
"The game as it is is a good game, but we have a large majority of women's basketball players that don't have that size and there are questions whether the game is as attractive as it really could be if you were able to play over the basket rather than under the basket," said Baumann, who is also a member of the International Olympic Committee.
The discussion of lowering the rims emerged from a conference held in conjunction with the world championships in the Czech Republic to discuss possible changes and improvements to the game. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
