Jordan Staal Will Reportedly Miss Up to 6 Weeks with Broken Hand

Update: Staal will need surgery to repair a broken hand and will reportedly miss up to six weeks, according to multiple media outlets, including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Pittsburgh Penguins center Jordan Staal's anticipated regular-season debut has been put on hold after he suffered an apparent 'upper-body injury' in practice on Monday, according to coach Dan Bylsma.

He left practice well before the session's end. Staal's latest injury is being evaluated and is not related to offseason foot surgery that has kept him out of action this season.

Staal, a first-round pick of the Penguins in 2006, had played in all but one regular-season game since being drafted with the second pick - recording 49 points in each of the last two seasons. Staal had been expected to make his regular-season debut this Wednesday night on the road against the Dallas Stars.
