Filed under: Houston, Conference USAOn the strength of 341 yards of total offense and five touchdown passes from Heisman Trophy candidate Case Keenum, the Houston Cougars lit up the scoreboard in the first half Saturday.
After just 30 minutes of play, Houston held a 54-7 lead over Texas State.
Keenum amassed 274 yards to go with those five touchdown passes, while running back Bryce Beall had two rushing touchdowns of his own.
The proverbial dogs were called off in the second half, however, as Keenum didn't take another snap. Backup quarterback Cotton Turner did lead the Cougars on touchdown drives on the first two Houston possessions of the second half, giving them a 68-7 lead. That is where the Houston offense stopped, as three touchdowns for visiting Texas State made the final score 68-28.
