Chris Rainey, a University of Florida receiver, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. ET Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated stalking, the Gainesville (Fla.) Police Department said in a statement that announced the felony charge.
Rainey allegedly threatened the life of a woman he'd been dating on and off. The Associated Press reported that Rainey spent the night in jail and appeared in court Tuesday morning.
Police said Rainey was apparently upset that the alleged victim missed his call, which prompted Rainey to send a text message that said, "time to die."
Once officers arrived at the woman's residence, Rainey allegedly said "wait and see what happens when they leave." At that point, officers went to Rainey's on-campus residence and arrested him. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
