Arkansas Survives Georgia Comeback, Wins on Late Touchdown

Filed under: Arkansas, Georgia, SECAfter dominating much of its SEC conference opener at Georgia Saturday, Arkansas found itself in trouble late in the fourth quarter.

When it mattered most, however, the Razorbacks got a big stop out of the defense, and a big play out of Greg Childs.

The defense kept the Bulldogs from mounting a scoring drive with the score tied in the final two minutes, and Childs' 40-yard catch and run for a touchdown with 15 seconds left gave Arkansas a dramatic 31-24 win over Georgia.

Ryan Mallett only completed 21 passes, but he ended up throwing for 380 yards and three touchdowns for No. 12 Arkansas (3-0 overall, 1-0 SEC). Georgia falls to 1-2, 0-2, having lost its league opener to South Carolina last week.

Mallett and the Razorbacks seemed to be on their way to an easy win in the third quarter, when he threw a touchdown pass to Ronnie Wingo, Jr., for a 24-10 lead. But Georgia had a comeback in it. Freshman Aaron Murray threw a scoring pass, and Washaun Ealey ran in from three yards out to tie the score with just under four minutes to go.
