Press Box Prank Nails Cubs GM Jim Hendry

Filed under: Brewers, CubsAs if the Cubs and GM Jim Hendry haven't had a tough enough year, on Friday they found themselves as the victims of a prank by someone who had access to the press box at Miller Park in Milwaukee. A phony press release deriding Hendry was included in the normal press notes, according a report on the Chicago Tribune's web site.

The release advertised a book entitled "How to Finish Near Last Place With the Highest Payroll In The League." It continued: "Read in Jim Hendry's own words how the Chicago Cubs managed to finish near the bottom of the National League Central; Division with the highest payroll in the National League."

A Brewers spokesman said the club was looking into the incident, but he wasn't sure how the phony release was placed in the press box. The Cubs had no comment. Hendry was not on the trip to Milwaukee. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
