Wayne, a Pro Bowl wide receiver each of the past four seasons and the AFC's leader in receptions this season, said on Friday while the Colts' 6-5 start this season has been difficult, "I believe we'll find that stride we're trying to hit."
And when they do, Wayne said the Colts remain dangerous.
"I don't care who you are or what you think of us, you don't want to see us in the playoffs," Wayne said Friday. "I don't care what our record is, you know what you're up against. Hopefully, we'll get it going. I think this is the week to do it."
The Colts, who play host to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, are tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars for first place in the AFC South. The Jaguars and Colts play in Indianapolis on Dec. 19.
The Colts have played through a slew of injuries this season, with 14 players -- including tight end Dallas Clark -- on injured reserve,
"It's one of those years you've got to push through," Wayne said. "Hopefully, you get over that hump, which I think we will."
Wayne also said Colts quarterback Peyton Manning spoke to the offense Monday regarding the importance of the final month of the season.
"Peyton stood up in the offensive meeting and he spoke about the last time this team didn't make the playoffs," Wayne said. "It was my rookie year, 2001. He just spoke about having more of a sense of urgency -- just refuse to lose -- not being that guy or that player who's at home watching the playoffs on the couch. That's a bad feeling.
"When he said that, that brought me all the way back to my rookie year. I was still wet behind the years, but at the same time, I was upset because I wanted my first year to be a playoff year."
