The injury occurred with just over a minute left in the game after Ellis made a strong move toward the rim but was met in the air by Raptors defenders Amir Johnson and DeMar DeRozan, who both made a clean play on the ball. Ellis initially landed on his feet, but with his back torqued due to his momentum, he quickly crumpled to the ground. He stayed down for several minutes underneath the Warriors' basket, eventually being tended to by Golden State's training staff after the Raptors completed the fast break on the other end and the Warriors could call a timeout.
"He was ready to pop up sooner," Warriors coach Keith Smart said. "I think it was more concern with the doctors that were there, our trainer that was there, to make sure when you have something like that happen, don't do something too soon."
